Walking With Henry by Thomas Locker

This is an Easy Fiction book which takes young readers on an imaginary journey into some of nature's most beautiful settings. As you follow the journey, you get acquainted with Henry David Thoreau's love for nature.

Thomas Locker is the illustrator. He has created facinating illustrations which again bring the text to life.

Talkin' About Bessie by Nikki Grimes

I have been wanting to read some biographies, but I wanted some great illustrations with my book choice. Voila...this is the perfect book to meet that criteria! The illustrations are by E.B. Lewis and they are wonderful. For me, the illustrations really make the text come alive.

I did not know who Bessie Coleman was before reading this book. I learned that she was a very brave African American lady who lived during the time when racial predjudice was often a roadblock.

Bessie had a dream which she fulfilled determined not to let anyone or any circumstance deter her. She became the first African American female pilot.

Bessie's story is one to remember. She encourages us to never be afraid to pursue our dreams.

Every Soul A Star by Wendy Mass

I just finished listening to this book and I loved it! Ally, her brother, Kenny, and their parents own and live at the Moon Shadow Campground located in the middle of nowhere. This is the only life Ally and Kenny have ever known.

As the story opens, the family is anxiously waiting for a solar eclipse which will draw thousands of visiting campers. What they don't know is that their parents have a huge surprise in store for the kids following the eclipse.
